Lincoln Elementary students to hold political rally/convention on Thursday, Oct. 30

The 250 students at Lincoln Elementary, Albion Street, Scotia will hold a presidential political rally at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the school.

The rally will include students wearing red, white and blue; the gym will be decorated like a political convention; students will make candidate endorsement speeches, recite poems and sing during the rally/convention at the school.

“Students are hearing so much about the political races, this is a chance for them to be involved an think about what they believe," said Principal Ann Comley.

Also, students at Lincoln voted last week on an actual lever-style voting machine for the presidential candidates. The results of that tally, which is part of the National Mock Election, will be announced at the rally.

For further information, contact Principal Ann Comley at 382-1296 or Robert Hanlon, Communications, at 386-4343.

Convention Update

Waving red (McCain) and blue (Obama) placards, the students at Lincoln enjoyed an old-fashioned convention/rally in anticipation of election day on Nov. 4. During voting last week, students and staff gave Barack Obama an easy win with this tally:

Obama – 261 votes (71.7%)
McCain – 102 votes (28%)
Nader – 1 vote (0.3%)
