US Marines in Iraq thank students for boxes of donations

Last December, students at the Middle School, Sacandaga Elementary, Glendaal Elementary and GIVE students at the high school collected around 210 boxes of food, socks, phonecards, candy, holiday treats and other well-wishes for troops serving in Iraq. The troops in the battalion made a video of thanks for the S-G students and also recited the Pledge of Allegiance. That video was played for Middle School students on Friday, Feb. 13, over the MSBC morning announcements.

From the Albany Reserve Center, Capt. Campbell Kane (an inspector-instructor commanding officer in Company F) and Staff Sgt. Daniel Graff (operations chief in Company F) recited the Pledge of Allegiance for students at the Middle School. The pledge was recorded on Thursday, Feb. 12, and will be broadcast on Monday, Feb. 23, over the school's MSBC station.

Below left, MSBC student anchors and advisor Richard Putorti prepare for a broadcast; on the right, the two officers, who have both served duties in Iraq, recite the Pledge.

The collections at Scotia-Glenville were coordinated by Lisa Cremo, who's husband Angelo was serving in Iraq at the time, and her children Richelle, a grade 7 student; Johnathan, a grade 3 student at Sacandaga; and Lilly, a grade 1 student at Sacandaga. Their mom, Lisa, is a teachers aide at Glendaal.
