Minutes of the Meeting

Call to order

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

PresidentŐs Report:            Karen Normington & Michele Calderon

           

á      Welcomed new parents and introductions were made

 

 

 PrincipalŐs Report:  John Tobiassen

 

á        No report

 

 

 

TeacherŐs Report: Beth Beauregard

           

á      Will be posting sign-up sheets for teacher  to volunteer for upcoming PTA events

 

           

 TreasurerŐs Report:  Carolyn Scott

á       An audit of the books was completed for June 30, 2009. Copies of the audit report, findings and year end results were distributed for review. Clara Bisaillon motioned to approve the audit. Michele Calderon seconded the motion.

á      Carolyn Scott reviewed the 2009-2010 DRAFT budget that was approved at the June 30, 2009 meeting.

á      Quickbooks 2006 is currently being used by the treasurer. We may need to add $350 expense to the budget in the spring for updated software once a successor is found.

á      Carolyn Scott motioned to approve the DRAFT budget with the following changes:

1.    Remove Radio Disney ($1200 expense/loss)

2.    Add Adirondack Kids author program ($950 expense/loss, adjusted for BOCES)

3.    Add Chris Poulis anti-bullying program ($1,414 expense/loss, adjusted for BOCES)

Clara Bisaillon seconded the motion.

á      K Sturdy Scholarship account is down to $70. No more outside funds are expected, so there wonŐt be a need for a separate account any more. Clara Bisaillon motioned to close the second account by the end of the year. Janine Phillips seconded the motion.

á      Please see Carolyn Scott if you need the tax exempt form or card; reimbursement forms and deposit slips are located in the office or from her.

á      Carolyn Scott will be leaving the Sacandaga PTA at the end of the school year. An audit will need to be completed- possibly as early as May 2010. A person is needed to take over as treasurer next year.

 

 

 

Ways and Means:   Christine Robinson

á      Fall fundraiser begins September 25, 2009. It will offer a variety of items for students to sell. The fundraiser ends October 13, 2009 with a delivery date of on or around November 9, 2009.

 

Programs:  Janine Phillips, Dawn McCarthy, Clara Bisaillon, Anne Cardany

á      Reviewed programs for this school year:

                 September: Ice cream social ($400)- looking for parents and                                              staff to volunteer

                 October: Radio Disney program on electricity ($0)

                 November: Healthy Heart Day ($950) includes Rob Rivest                                 ($850) a mime who will do 2 shows and Bob Oats                                  ($100) an author.

                 December: Holiday Bazaar and dinner with Santa ($200)

                 January: Movie night in the gym ($400)

                 February: Fabulous Fridays ($1200) which spans 3 Fridays

                 March: Circus project ($5,000)

                 April: Adirondack Kids book series author program ($950)

                 May: Chris Poulis ($1,414) to do an anti-bullying program

 

May add the Catskill Puppet Theater, but there are concerns that the show would be the same as the one preformed 2 years in a row previously.

á      Still looking for homeroom parents for several classrooms. Clara Bisaillon will be sending out another letter asking for volunteers.

 

Box Top Coordinator:  Lori Temple & Jane Smith

á      No report

 

Campbell Soup Labels:  Colleen Carnevale

á      No report

 

 

 Open Floor / New Business:

á      Colleen Benedetto asked if money was kept in the budget for Odyssey of the Mind. Eighty dollars remain in the budget to cover one of the registration fees.

 

Adjournment

 A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 8:14 p.m. by Clara Bisaillon.  Dawn McCarthy seconded the motion.
