Formal Budget Hearing

 

A Formal Budget Hearing of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Cafeteria at the Middle School in said district on May 20, 2003.

 

President of the Board of Education Kurt Ahnert called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

Present:      Ahnert, Bradley, Carbone, Conlon, Magruder, Smith, Superintendent Marcelle; Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction Hodgins, District Treasurer Nolie

 

PUBLIC HEARING

 

 

President Ahnert presented an overview of the proposed budget for the 2003-2004 school year.  The Board of Education adopted a $35,422,698 budget, a 5.4% exenditure increase over the past year.  Mr. Ahnert outlined total expenditures and impact factors in the Elementary, Secondary and High School programs.  Mr. Ahnert explained the effect of the Governor’s Aid Proposal and Legislative State Aid Budget on Scotia-Glenville.  Mr. Ahnert also explained the Budget Format and outlined Proposition #2, the Vehicle/Bus purchase proposition.  

 

Mr. Ahnert then outlined the Budget Reductions the Board of Education made in order to be able to present an acceptable tax increase to the community.  Reductions were made in the areas of K-12 Instruction, Athletics, Non-Instructional, Board of Education, and District Office.  Mr. Ahnert then discussed how the reductions would affect the 2003-2004 school year.  Mr. Ahnert concluded by reminding everyone to vote on June 3rd, 2003 from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium at the Senior High School.
