Special Meeting Minutes

 

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Cafeteria of the Middle School in said district on April 2, 2007.

 

President of the Board of Education Margaret Smith called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. 

 

Present:      Ahnert, Carbone, Conlon, Crisafulli, Normington, Smith, Yagielski, Superintendent Swartz, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kavanaugh, Business Administrator Nolie and District Clerk DeLong.

 

Absent: none     

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

HEARING/PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR

 

Kevin Dwyer, 17 Craigie Ave., read a letter to the Board from his son, Greg, in regard to the hockey merger with Burnt Hills.  He also spoke to the Board about this merger.

 

President Smith opened the budget discussion with the issue of the 1.0 FTE position.  After

discussing this issue, the Board decided to keep this position in the budget to enable flexibility for

possible enrollment changes.  The Board also discussed the Superintendent's proposal to add

$800,000 to the proposed expenditures to be used for renovation work at Glendaal.  The Board was

polled and it was determined that this amount would be added to the proposed budget.

 

FINAL REVIEW AND ADOPTION OF 2007-2008 BUDGET

 

MOVED by Conlon that the Board of Education submit the following proposition at the Annual District

Election on May 15, 2007:

 

       RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District be authorized to expend the sums set forth in the total amount of $44,567,743 during the 2007-2008 school year and to levy the necessary tax therefore.

       REQUEST FOR OVERNIGHT TRIP - HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT SYMPHONIC BAND,

CHORALAIRES, CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, AND CHAPERONES TO THE MUSIC FESTIVAL,    VIRGINIA BEACH, VA

 

       MOVED by Yagielski that the Board of Education approve the request for the overnight trip of the

       High School Symphonic Band, Choralaires, Chamber Orchestra, and Chaperones to the Music

       Festival, Virginia Beach, Virginia, from April 26-29, 2007, at no expense to the district.  (This request

       is contained as Appendix A to these minutes).

a.    MOVED by Carbone that the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Patricia Abel, Teaching Assistant (Sacandaga School), effective c.o.b. April 13, 2007, with appreciation for her service to the district.  (This resignation is contained as Appendix B to these minutes).
