Special Meeting Minutes
A
Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central
School District was held in the Board Room of the District Office, in said
district on July 23, 2007.
President of the Board of
Education Margaret Smith called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.
Present: Ahnert, Benedetto, Carbone, Conlon, Normington, Smith, Yagielski, Superintendent Swartz, and School Business Manager Giaquinto.
Absent: Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kavanaugh
MOVED by Carbone that the Board of Education adjourn to Executive Session in order to discuss
matters relating to personnel and/or negotiations.

The Board adjourned to Executive Session at 6:15 p.m. and returned to Open Session at 7:25 p.m.

for nominations for the office of Vice President of the Board of Education for
the 2007-2008 school
year.
Mr. Ahnert nominated
Pamela Carbone for the office of Vice President of the Board of Education for
the 2007-2008 school
year. Mr. Conlon nominated Gary
Normington for the office of Vice President
of the Board of
Education for the 2007-2008 school year.
Mr. Normington declined the nomination. A

DISCUSSION: UPDATE ON POTENTIAL BUILDING PROJECT
Superintendent Swartz
provided the Board with an update on the plans for Glendaal Elementary
School. She also discussed
potential roofing projects and the District Office property. The Board discussed the Building
Project issue and will continue to discuss this item at future meetings.
DISCUSSION: NEW YORK STATE SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONVENTION
The Board discussed which
members will be attending the Annual Convention.

Board of Education adopt the Free and Reduced Price Meals or Free Milk
Policy Statement and
authorize the School Board President to sign the Certificate of Acceptance.

six classrooms and the Distance Learning classroom), as submitted, and
authorize the President
of the Board to execute same.

Teacher (Middle School), effective July 10, 2007, with appreciation for her
service to the district. (This

a. Staffing
1) Approve the probationary appointment of Amy E.
Casella as Elementary Teacher (Grade 6, Middle School), effective September 1,
2007 through August 31, 2010, with 2007-2008 annual salary to be at $38,909 (Step 2 +M +22). Ms.
Casella has initial certification. This appointment is conditioned on the
school districtÕs receipt of clearance for the employee from the State
Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance
with the provisions of Education Law 3035.
2) Approve the probationary appointment of Aimee E.
Cusack as Guidance Counselor (Middle School), effective September 1, 2007
through August 31, 2010, with 2007-2008 annual salary to be at $37,600 (Step 1
+M) and further approve her supplemental appointment as Guidance
Counselor, with 2007-2008 stipend at $2,650. Ms. Cusack has provisional certification.
3) Approve the following additional employees at the
rate of 1/200 of their 2006-2007 annual salary for each full day of service
this summer:
