Special Meeting Minutes
MARCH 17, 2008

 

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Library Media Center of the Middle School, in said district on March 17, 2008.

 

President of the Board of Education Margaret Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

Present:      Ahnert, Benedetto, Carbone, Conlon, Normington, Smith, Yagielski, Superintendent Swartz, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kavanaugh, School Business Manager Giaquinto and District Clerk DeLong

 

Absent: none

Hearing/Privilege of the Floor

 

Christine McKenna, 714 Charles St., spoke to the Board regarding the Scotia Scholars program.

 

Jerry Moore, 122 Jay St., spoke to the Board regarding the proposed budget.

 

Michelle Kraines, 8 Barry Lane, spoke to the Board regarding the Young Scholar program.

 

Kaila Desantis, 50 Marion Blvd., spoke to the Board regarding the condition of the athletic field.

 

 

BUDGET WORK SESSION: INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM – MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL, AND TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVES

 

The Board reviewed the items previously presented for Transportation, Facilities, District Office, and Elementary Buildings. The Board discussed each item and reached a consensus on several of these items. Due to the late hour, the Board chose to wait on the Middle School, High School and Technology Initiatives until next week. The Board meeting will begin at 6:30 on the 24^th.

 

RESOLUTION: NOMINATION OF JOHN BERGERON AS A MEMBER OF THE BOCES BOARD OF EDUCATION

 

MOVED by Yagielski that the Board of Education approve the following Resolution:

 

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education submit the nomination of John Bergeron as a Member of the BOCES Board of Education for a three year term.

MOVED by Carbone that the meeting adjourn to Executive Session in order to discuss matters relating to personnel.

The Board adjourned to Executive Session at 8:55 p.m. and returned to Open Session at 9:30 p.m.
