Special Meeting Minutes

 

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Library Media Center of the Middle School, in said district on March 16, 2009.

 

President Smith called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

 

Present: Smith, Benedetto, Carbone, Conlon, McCann, Normington, Yagielski, Superintendent

Swartz, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kavanaugh, Business Manager

Giaquinto, and District Clerk DeLong

 

Absent: none

HEARING/PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR

 

Jerry Moore, 122 Jay St., spoke to the Board regarding technology in the classroom.

 

President Smith commended the Varsity Basketball team on their winning season.

 

BUDGET WORK SESSION: DISTRICTWIDE REDUCTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM

 

Superintendent Swartz gave a power point presentation to the Board on the areas that she has targeted for reductions in this years budget. The Board was in agreement with most of the reductions, but asked that some be reinstated back into the budget. The Board also asked for a listing of other areas being considered for reduction. Superintendent Swartz provided the Board with a list of these items. The Board discussed these items as well and will continue to discuss as the budget process progresses.

 

MOVED by Yagielski that the Board of Education adjourn to Executive Session in order to discuss matters relating to personnel.

The Board adjourned to Executive Session at 8:57 p.m. and returned to Open Session at 9:20 p.m.
