Two Scotia-Glenville students earn honors on the slopes Parker Wright, grade 8, and Lauren Celella, a grade 4 student at Glendaal, have each achieved honors on the ski slopes in recent days. On March 7, Parker came in first at the Kandahar State Championships at West Mountain in Queensbury. He will be among six skiers in the J3 age group from New York who will compete on the NYS Kandahar Championship Team at the Piche Invitational Championships at Guilford, NH on March 20-21. A total of 36 skiers from across New York will compete at New Hampshire. A week earlier, Parker had placed first in the Kandahar East Festival Giant Salom's. Parker races for Ski West Mountain Education Foundation. Lauren recently placed second in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, MA. She missed first place by a fraction of a second. Lauren, who had never skied a course before, is headed to New Hampshire the week of March 27 for the Mountain Dew finals. |
